I have a great deal of stories that I could tell of my time spent with SFC Copen. He was my platoon SGT when I arrived at Ft Campbell in 1988. Through his mentoring and support I was able to accomplish one of my goals in the military and that was to make SGT in under 2 years. 20 months after I arrived into 1st PLT Dco 20th Eng Battalion, I was promoted to SGT, Rusty to SFC, and John Wood to 1LT in the same ceremony. I was transferred to Germany before Desert Storm broke out but would have been proud to have served with him during that time. Rest In Peace my friend.......Essayons!
