Mom wrote this poem after my daughter, her granddaughter Amber Lynn Rose died May 1981.
AMBER
God sent Amber to us for a while,
long enough for her to smile.
Her smile that said "I love you so,
But now I really have to go."
Thank you God.
In places high she walks today,
absorbed in her angelic play.
Giving pleasure to those up there,
who never any child did bear.
Thank you God.
Then when we reach that Heavenly shore,
and work on earth will be no more,
We'll have the sweetest tour-guide,
to show us Heaven far and wide.
Thank you God!
By Petie
My mom wrote this about my grandma Petie, her mom:
Even though she was very busy, she spent lots of special time with us. She had a great imagination and could turn simple things into something fantastic. In the summer, when we were on vacation, we'd sometimes wake up to find our mother at home and not at work - a thrill. Many days like that, we'd pack a lunch and go on a long walk to the woods. After we'd eaten our peanut butter and dill pickle sandwiches, Mom would lean up against a tree for a good nap, and we'd run like wild through the woods. I love my mother very much and thank her for the many loving things she did for me and for her good example.
I also loved my grandma very much and am so thankful for my wonderful mom she raised by example. We always had such good times with her, and she was always so loving and giving. I know she'll be missed by many.
