Life Story for Mildred ""Petie"" Latta (Hinckley)


Mildred LeOra (Petie) Latta went to be with her Lord February 7, 2015 at Magnum Care in Hastings, MI. Petie was born at home to Merrill and Ona (Hummel) Hinckley on October 30th, 1926. She was a 1944 graduate of W.K. Kellogg High School in Nashville. Petie married Ernest Latta in 1945. The marriage ended in divorce.

She worked at Hastings Manufacturing and J-Ad Graphics, retiring in 2009 at the age of 83. Petie was a member of Nashville Baptist Church and the P.F.C. Missionary Group. She loved her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids and had a great love for fun and laughter. Petie loved traveling, scrapbooking, puzzles, reading, crafts and watching TV.

Petie is survived by twin daughters Sherry (Wayne) Gould and Mary Rose of Nashville and son-in-law Gordon Gutchess of Portland, Oregon. Grandchildren are Tim Rose, Jim Rose, Jennifer Gutchess, Ashley Gutchess, Lauren Hildebrandt, Leslie Booher, Emilie Wohlscheid and Lee Gould. Several nieces and nephews, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.

She was preceded in death by sons James and John Latta, daughter Susan Gutchess, grand-daughter Amber Rose, her parents Merrill and Ona Hinckley, brothers Donald (Wilma) Hinckley and Raymond (Susan) Hinckley.

Services were held at Nashville Baptist Church Wednesday, February 11th with Pastor Lester DeGroot officiating. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Daniels Funeral Home of Nashville. Memorial contributions may be made to Great Lakes Hospice or Nashville Baptist Church.
