Obituary for Merlin Leffel

Merlin R. Leffel Jr.

Mr. Merlin R. Leffel Jr., age 72, of Nashville passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at his home.

Merlin was born in Bay City, MI on January 17, 1948, the son of the late Merlin R. and Lois (DeFriest) Leffel Sr.

He was raised in the Hastings area and attended local schools graduating from Hastings High School in 1966. After completing high school, Merlin joined the United States Army. When he returned from service, he continued his education at Kellogg Community College.

Merlin was the husband of Jeanice (Krebs) Leffel. The couple was married July 24, 1976, in Hastings, MI.

Merlin was a talented electrician and spent his working career as a Maintenance Supervisor for KMG Prestige where he worked until retiring in 2014.

Merlin enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his children and family. All of the children admired him, and they loved the many stories about "Uncle Bo". Merlin & Jenny enjoyed playing Bingo, visiting the casinos, and long afternoon drives along the lakeshore where they could enjoy spending quality time together.

Merlin is survived by his beloved wife Jenny, his two daughters, Calistia (Lucas Fredrick) Douglas, Michelle (Wayne) Hoffman, his son,Steven (Erika Schrobbe) Leffel, his sister, Theresa Edsalle, 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, many special nieces and nephews, and many special friends. He was preceded in death his brother Dennis "Red" Leffel.

Memorial contributions can be made to the family to help with expenses, 8226 E State Rd, Nashville MI 49073. A celebration of life is scheduled for April 17, 2021 at the McKeown Bridge Park on McKeown Rd, more details to follow.
