Life Story for Louise A. Sheldon (Hurley)

Louise A. Sheldon

Mrs. Louise Sheldon, age 97, of Battle Creek passed away Monday, September 26th, 2016 at the home of her beloved caregiver Connie Yates.

Louise was born in Okemos, MI on November 5, 1918, the daughter of the late Merton and Lera (Young) Hurley. Louise was raised in the Albion area and attended local schools.

In 1940, while getting gas for the car, Louise met the love of her life Mr. Russell Sheldon. Just three weeks after that initial meeting, the couple married and celebrated over 51 years together when Russell passed away in 1991.

She worked at Kellogg's for 22 years retiring in 1978. After retiring, she and Russ moved to Denver Colorado, where they volunteered for six years in the office at the Officers Christian Fellowship, sending Christian Literature to Military Officers all over the world.

Louise is survived by a daughter, Linda (Charles) Jochens, three sons Duane (Sally) Sheldon, Kent Sheldon, Russ (Brenda) Sheldon, two sisters, June (Donald) Petty, Joyce (Bud) Hurley, 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Ida Mae and Marion.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday October 1, 2016 at The South Side Bible Church, 4515 Beckley Rd. Battle Creek, MI.

The family will receive visitors 1 hour prior to the memorial service beginning at 10:00 AM.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Southside Bible Church in which Russ and Louise were one of the founding families or Bronson At Home Hospice.
