Martha (Madge) Gibson Bigelow

Hastings, MI - Martha Gibson Bigelow passed away on April 15th 2015 and is resting until our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ returns.

Martha was born on April 14th 1936 in Belfast Ireland to parents Robert and Martha (Gibson) Moore.

At eighteen she met a sailor in Rhode Island, David James Bigelow. They married in 1957. They had four children. They divorced in 1972. Martha loved her children. She enjoyed showing them how to do the Irish Jig, singing Irish tunes and celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. Martha enjoyed playing the games Yahtzee and Trouble with her grandchildren. Martha embraced opportunities to help others out. She knit many hats, booties, and blankets. Prior to going into a nursing home, Martha attended Living Waters Church in Hastings.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Martha Moore and brother, Robert Moore.

She is survived by:

Special honor to a friend Betty Oosterhouse, a family friend of fifty-five years.

Her children are Vi (Dale) Workman of Hastings Michigan, David James Jr. (Jim) Bigelow of Georgia, Patrick Bigelow, Maureen (Dale) Hamm of N. Carolina.

Ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, family in Ireland, and many friends.

A Memorial service will be held at Noon Saturday May 16th 2015, at Daniels Funeral Home 9200 East M-79 Highway, Nashville, MI 49073. Visitation will be one hour prior with a luncheon following the memorial service. Pastor Gary Newton of Living Waters Church Hastings Church will Officiate.

A private Interment will be held at a later time at Winchester Cemetery in Byron twp.
