Life Story for Barbara A. Sams (Dryer)

Hastings, MI

Barbara Ann Dryer-Sams

Barbara recently lost her short battle with Cancer and left this physical earth to be with her Lord and join her much beloved brother Truman. Barbara was born in Howell, Michigan on January 19, 1950 to Roy and Betty Dryer. Betty later married Charlie Couch in 1957 and Betty & Charlie raised 4 kids; Helen, Barbara, Truman and Kathy.

On March 1 1980 Barbara married Michael D. Sams and together they raised Mike (Charlie) and Kim. They have been together for the past 35 years. Mike and Barbara like to square dance, ride their motor scooters, travel and camp. Being a social sort, Barbara always like to join her friends for coffee, cooked often for friends and especially enjoyed beating Eldon Weyerman in a game of cards. Barbara graduated from Hastings High School in 1968 and worked at Advanced Packaging in Grand Rapids for approximately 26 years and later worked as a bus driver for the Hastings Area Schools.

Barbara is survived by her husband and soul mate Michael D. Sams, her two dogs Hanky and Panky and her three children Michael C. Sams, Kimberly J. Sams and Jenni (Gene) Young. Barbara and Mike have 9 grandchildren; Joshua, Brandon, Samantha, Alex (Kim), Kayla, Mary, Victoria, Keyza and Lisa (Jeni). Barbara is also survived by her dear parents Betty & Mel Gilcrist and sisters Helen Dryer and Kathy (Ralph) Bourdon all of Alamogordo NM. Barbara will also be missed by close family & friends along with numerous cousins, nieces and Nephews.

Barbara wanted all of her family and friends to know that she loved them. She held a special place in her heart for her best friends Al & Nancy Taylor, Eldon & Linda Weyerman and her next door neighbor Bryan Smith.

The family is planning a memorial service in the spring of 2015.
