Ms. Helen L. Wellman, age 85, of Vermontville passed away Friday, January 30th, 2015 at her Vermontville home surrounded by her family.

Helen was born in Nashville, Michigan on July 28, 1929, the daughter of the late Azel and Mabel (Housler) Mix. She was raised in the Vermontville area and attended local schools graduating from Vermontville High School.

She was the widow of Clair Wellman. The couple was married on Dec 17, 1966 and made their home together in the Vermontville area where they raised their blended family.

Helen took great pride in caring for her family, and tending to their needs. She also enjoyed KENO, reading, cooking and socializing with her friends at the tavern.

Helen is survived by her two daughters, Durinda Cross, Patricia Cross, two brothers, Dave Mix, Timothy Shetenhelm, Grandchildren Paula, Brandon, Krista, and 7 seven great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her husband Clair in Oct 2006, brothers Jim, Al, & Arthur, two step children Jo Carol Thomson and Terry Wellman.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday February 8, 2015 at the Daniels Funeral Home in Nashville. The family will receive visitors prior to the service beginning at 12 Noon.

Interment will take place privately. Memorial contributions can be made to "Ladies Auxiliary, VFW 8260 at 304 S State, Nashville, MI 49073.
