Marjorie Grace Potter
Mrs. Marjorie G. Potter, Age 88, passed away Thursday, October 2. 2014 at Pennock Hospital in Hastings, MI
Marjorie was born in Erie, PA , November 10, 1925, the daughter of the late James and Ethel (Allen) Symonds. She was raised in the Lansing area and attended local schools.
She was the widow of Lawrence "Larry" Potter. The couple was married March 4, 1946. They began their lives together in the Lansing area, then moved to the Hastings area where they raised their family together. While their family was growing, Larry & Marjorie enjoyed many things together including visiting local fairs.
Marjorie was a very dedicated worker and was employed as a Housekeeping Supervisor at Thornapple Manor for over 30 years before retiring at the age of 75. She also worked many years waitressing at local restaraunts in the Hastings area.
Marjorie was an outstanding bowler and at the age of 80 won the National Seniors Singles Championship. She also enjoyed visiting the local casinos with her family and friends, traveling with the 7 sisters and her yearly bowling adventures, crocheting also was her passion for years and even went white water rafting well into her 70's.
Marjorie is survived by her three daughters, Mary (William) Tront, Tracy (Mike) Beachnau, Cindy Miller, Her son William (April Bouwmen) Potter, two sisters, Winnona Cummer, Edna VanSplintern, a brother, Harry (Pat) Symonds, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her sisters Helen, Pauline, Donna and her brother Harold, her children Howard L, Potter, Steven A. Potter, her grand daughter Anna Lynn Potter.
Funeral Services will be held at the Daniels Funeral Home, Nashville, MI, at 1PM on Monday October 6,2014.
The family will receive visitors on Monday beginning at 11am until the funeral time. A time of fellowship and luncheon will immediately follow the funeral service at Grace Community Church.
Interment will take place at Hastings Township Cemetery following the luncheon.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Barry County Commission on Aging.
