Sterling K. Wells

Mr. Sterling K. Wells, age 90, of Vermontville passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28th, 2014 at Eaton Community Palliative Care, in Charlotte, MI.

Sterling was born in Vermontville, MI on January 28, 1924, the son of the late Carl and Alta (King) Wells. He attended local schools graduating from Vermontville High School, in 1942.

He was the husband of Betty (Stiteler) Wells. Sterling and Betty were married in Mansfield OH on August 30, 1948. The couple made their home together on the family farm in Vermontville where they raised their family together. Sterling and Betty have celebrated over 66 years of marriage.

Sterling worked as a Tool Maker at Aluminum Extrusions in Charlotte until he retired in 1987. Sterling enjoyed his work, and throughout his career he also maintained and operated his own back hoe business installing septic systems in the Vermontville and Nashville areas. In his spare time, Sterling enjoyed working on the family farm and being outdoors. After retiring he and Betty traveled the United States and enjoyed visiting their daughter and family in Colorado.

Sterling is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years Betty, a daughter, Teresa (Erdogan) Oray
two sons Steven and Kenneth Wells, three brothers, Clayton (MaryJo) Wells, Carroll (Phyllis) Wells, Morris (Ruth Ann) Wells, and his grandchildren, Serkan (Sylvie) Oray, Ayhan Oray, and one great grandson Nolan

Graveside Services were held at Hillside Cemetery, Kalamo, MI, at 1 PM on Wednesday, October 1st, 2014
