Life Story for Karen A. Suntken (Emmons)

Mrs. Karen Anne Suntken, age 74, of Sunfield passed away Wednesday, June 18th, 2014 at her home.

Karen was born in Webberville, MI on March 9, 1940, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Margaret (Haskilll) Emmons. She was raised in the Webberville area and attended local schools before graduating from Webberville High School in 1958.

She was the wife of Mr. Gary Suntken. The couple was married on November 20, 1961 in Muir, MI. Shortly after being married they moved to their home in Sunfield Township where they raised their family together and have lived for over 52 years.

Karen spent a great deal time working in her flower gardens for the enjoyment of all the neighborhood. In addition she enjoyed quilting, playing games on her tablet with her many friends, and watching her favorite television shows. She spent a lifetime building a beautiful home and took great pride and enjoyment in caring for her family.

Karen is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years Gary, her two daughters, Lisa (Steve) Sterkenburg, Melissa Suntken, her son, Gabriel (Rose) Suntken, three sisters, Cindy (Dave) Carr, Kristi Schingeck, Shelly (Matt) Kilroy, her grandchildren Jason & Brandon Sterkenburg, McCarthie Suntken, and Danica & Gavin Suntken.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Dennis, and Terry Emmons.

Funeral Services will be held at Grace Community Church, Nashville, MI, at 3 PM on Sunday, June 22nd, with Pastor Don Roscoe officiating.

The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the funeral service on Sunday beginning at 2 PM until service time.

A social time with refreshments will follow immediately after the funeral service at Grace Community Church. This will be a time where family and friends can share their memories together.

A private family interment will take place at the Sunfield Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Grace Community Church in Nashville, MI to support their building fund.
