Life Story for Marjorie Hartwell (Mann)

Vermontville

Marjorie (Marge) Ellen Hartwell

Mrs. Marjorie Hartwell, age 77, of Vermontville passed away Sunday, May 25th, 2014 at Eaton Community Palliative Care, in Charlotte , MI .

Marjorie was born in Battle Creek , MI on December 24, 1936, the daughter of the late Terry and Abigail (Wheeler) Mann. She was raised in the Bellevue area and attended local schools graduating in 1955.

On August 11, 1956, she was married to Mr. Jack Elliston. The couple made their home in the Nashville area where they raised their three sons together. Jack & Marjorie were married 21 years when Jack passed away in 1977. Marjorie was remarried to Mr. John Hartwell Memorial Day weekend May 25, 1978. The couple made their home together on their Vermontville farm.

Marjorie began working at Grand Trunk Railroad when she was younger, followed by time at Battle Creek Community Hospital and Hastings Manufacturing. While her children were growing, Marjorie looked after their care and returned to the workforce at AE Hoover in Charlotte where she worked for several years. She ended her career at Lumbertown in Battle Creek when she retired in 1999 at the age of 62.

Marjorie enjoyed going up North to the Fife Lake area to mushroom hunt and trout fish. She also enjoyed whitetail hunting on the family property as well as walleye fishing statewide with her sons.

She is survived by her husband John Hartwell, her three sons, J.D. Elliston, Brian (Jeri) Elliston, Chuck (Amy) Elliston, two step sons Johnny (Cheryl) Hartwell, Jody (Beanie) Hartwell, 6 Grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Elliston, her brother Herbert Mann and parents Terry and Abigail Mann.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Becca from Pennock Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to Pennock Palliative Care and Eaton County Community Hospice in her name.

Funeral services are being conducted privately. The family will receive visitors on Saturday May 31st 2014 at the Nashville VFW Post 8260 where a luncheon will be served at 2PM.
